Subway Opening in Sri Lanka

Subway, the world popular restaurant chain finally opened in Sri Lanka. With there massive social media marketing and advertising for the grand opening of there first Subway branch in Sri Lanka, everyone was excited to try out there food. After a long waiting delay, it was finally opened to its customers on 12th August.  After the social media burst for there grand opening, So many people wanted to try it out on the first day, including my self and few other people.

Unfortunately for us, it was a weekday, just the Tuesday of a new week which is a highly busy day at work. while we were about to give up on attending the opening for the subway, that’s when we noticed that its open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. So why wait? gathered few people for the gang and drove towards the new Subway with the hope of trying them out on the first day.  It was just around 7pm when we reached there, and there was a big queue. We decided to stand up at the end of the line, when a kind gentlemen came and told us; Sir, The food is over!

THE FOOD IS OVER? it was the grand opening of a world wide popular franchise and that was a very unexpected disappointment for all who came in the evening to try out Subway. People after office hours are on there way to try it out.  I do understand the practicality. Any restaurant can run out of supplies when it comes to a very large crowd. But isn’t that obvious? or at least shouldn’t they be expecting a huge crowd after all the social media and other advertising they had? that was an opening! everyone came to pay and eat. it wasn’t a free giveaway.  you should have kept a little too much supplies for the first day. you should have been ready for the worst case scenario, which is, customers going back without food!

Im not criticizing or no offense to people who made it possible to open a Subway in Sri lanka. But this is behalf of all the people who came in the evening just to try the new Subway, but had to go with alternative options and a huge disappointment.

Not Using AI Is a Choice, No more excuses

Frontier AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are competing hard, while open source models are catching up fast. This competition is driving costs down. The price per 1M tokens keeps dropping, which means you can do a lot more for a lot less. So the old excuse of 'I don't have the budget to use AI in my business' is quickly disappearing.

Day 5 of 31: Connections and Caffeine

The first Monday of the new year always feels like a reset button. For our service company, yesterday marked the official restart, and as expected, it was a busy one. The day was filled with catch-ups, follow-ups, and lots of reconnecting with clients who had patiently waited for us to get back into full swing.

Day 4 of 31: When the Day Slips Off Track

Some Sundays move at their own slow pace, and yesterday was one of them. I went into the weekend feeling excited to refactor a piece of code that’s been bothering me for weeks. But by Sunday evening, the work was still unfinished and instead of accepting that, I spent way too much time complaining to
