Not Using AI Is a Choice, No more excuses
Have you been paying attention to what's happening around you?
- There's a massive race going on right now. Frontier AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are competing hard, while open source models are catching up fast. This competition is driving costs down.
- The price per 1M tokens keeps dropping, which means you can do a lot more for a lot less.
- Right now, there are countless tools and providers offering free usage or very generous limits.
Personally, I've used millions of tokens over the past few weeks without paying anything at all, on top of my existing paid plans.
So the old excuse of "I don't have the budget to use AI in my business" is quickly disappearing.
But something else is happening too.
- A lot of businesses jumped into the AI hype thinking they wouldn't need engineers, service providers, or experienced people anymore. The idea was that AI could do everything. That's not how it's playing out.
- Many are burning through credits without getting real results, mostly because they lack the knowledge to use these tools properly. Others are struggling to get things into production. Some are even running into serious security issues and risking client data.
- They're starting to realize that AI is only part of the solution.
- You still need people who know how to build, deploy, secure, and maintain systems.
If it's a hobby project, sure, experiment and have fun. But if it's your business, you need expertise.
On the personal side, the opportunity is huge.
- You can learn faster than ever. You can build things that were out of reach just a few years ago.
- There's really no excuse anymore. The only limit is how much effort you're willing to put in.
For businesses, it's even more clear.
- There are processes you can automate. There are inefficiencies you can fix. You can free up your team to focus on higher value work and actually grow.
- It doesn't matter what industry you're in. Every business has something that can be improved with AI.
At this point, not using AI is a choice.
And it's getting harder to justify that choice.
