Invest in your personal growth and well-being

Towards the end of last year, I discussed the importance of investing in oneself. This investment is essential not only for acquiring new skills but also for improving various aspects of life that can enhance productivity. Such personal growth can positively impact professional performance and overall well-being.

In continuation of this journey, I have begun investing in several areas this year that I believe will foster personal growth in both health and wealth.

Rewards & Memberships

I have started to take full advantage of rewards and loyalty programs available wherever I travel or shop. Initially, I didn’t pay much attention to these programs, but I’ve come to realize their value given the amount I spend. I’ve made some paid investments in this area, hoping to see beneficial returns over time.

AI Gym Coach Subscription

I had already tried to make health and fitness an important part of my routine. To add to that, I have embarked on a fitness journey with an AI coach to explore where it leads me.

Premium AI Subscriptions

For nearly two years, I have utilized AI code assistance to enhance our codebases, which had then become a standard practice within my team and significantly boosted our productivity. Recently, I subscribed to additional AI tools that assist with real-time searches and other non-code-related tasks. My experience so far has been remarkable, completely changing the way I search for information.

Masterclass Subscription

While there are numerous courses and videos available on all sorts of topics, Masterclass ranks top in storytelling. I felt it was a worthwhile investment to learn from high-profile experts in diverse fields. I’m excited to see how this works for me.

Investments

As is the meaning of the word, I have begun dedicating more time and resources to stock and cryptocurrency investments. Although I had tried these sometime back, lost money badly, and again tried here and there, I plan to take a more serious approach moving forward.

Digital Nomad Day

This is a particularly important one. Having worked from home for many years, I realized that while I encourage my team to work from different locations, providing them with a company budget to do so, for their mental well-being and productivity, I have not done the same for myself.

To address this, I’ve allocated a personal budget to work from a different location once a week, not just from a nearby coffee shop but from places that require commuting and allow me to interact with others. I anticipate this will enhance both my personal and professional life.

In summary, investing in oneself is a continuous journey that yields benefits across various aspects of life. By embracing new opportunities in life, we can foster personal growth and enhance our overall well-being.

I am excited to see how they will shape my life and work. I encourage you to reflect on your own investments in personal development and consider how small changes can lead to significant improvements in your productivity and happiness.

Not Using AI Is a Choice, No more excuses

Frontier AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are competing hard, while open source models are catching up fast. This competition is driving costs down. The price per 1M tokens keeps dropping, which means you can do a lot more for a lot less. So the old excuse of 'I don't have the budget to use AI in my business' is quickly disappearing.

The first Monday of the new year always feels like a reset button. For our service company, yesterday marked the official restart, and as expected, it was a busy one. The day was filled with catch-ups, follow-ups, and lots of reconnecting with clients who had patiently waited for us to get back into full swing.

Some Sundays move at their own slow pace, and yesterday was one of them. I went into the weekend feeling excited to refactor a piece of code that’s been bothering me for weeks.
